With a view to finding out how internal audit exists and its level of independence, the study uses interviews and methods to obtain data, the finding of the study is that the internal audit unit at the institution is far from being effective. Some factors responsible for the inefficiency and ineffectiveness include among others, lack of independence, and nonadherence to the general auditing standard.
