Date palm fruit samples were purchased from the market at Otefe-Oghara, in Ethiope West Local Government Area. The samples were air-dried and ground into powder. 2g of the date powder was added to 100ml of distilled water and diluted to 500ml. The analysis was done with the spectrophotometer instrument. The instrument was calibrated with a standard solution of calcium and iron to obtain a calibration curve. The concentration of the date fruit solution was determined using the instrument. Date palm fruit contains the two elements, Iron (Fe) and Calcium (Ca). Calcium concentration (17.76mgkg-1) and Iron (13.46mgkg-1). World Health Organization (WHO) recommended daily amount (RDA) of calcium is 500mgday-1 and iron is 8mgday-1.
