Despite numerous studies on knowledge and preventive practices, the disease persists. This study aimed to assess the knowledge and preventive practices related to malaria control in Owerri West LGA. Using a descriptive cross-sectional design, 426 residents were surveyed, and data were analyzed with SPSS version 23.0. The study found that 97.5% of respondents were aware of malaria. Regarding the perception of malaria control strategies, 28.2% believed in the effectiveness of Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) for prevention. Preventive practices included 35.6% using mosquito repellent and 26.9% using ITNs, with others adopting different methods. Barriers to ITN use included cost and inconvenience. The study revealed significant associations between knowledge of malaria control and socio-demographic factors: age, occupation, income level, and education level. In conclusion, most respondents in Owerri West LGA had good knowledge of malaria prevention.
