Abstract
Hypertension is a chronic medical condition of immense public concern. This study was carried out on the prevalence of high blood pressure among literate adults between 35-60 years of age in Majaidu community, Kacha Local Government Area of Niger State. Descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out using multi-stage sampling technique to get two hundred (200) respondents that participated. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The research shows that more than half of the respondents 124 (64%) have had their blood pressure checked by a health professional. this study revealed that majority of the respondents 147(74%) are within the age limit of 30-60years years. A good number of the respondents 111(55%) think that high blood pressure can lead to stroke and about 145 respondents show that regular exercise can mitigate against high blood pressure. It is therefore recommended that individual should regularly check their blood pressure and state ministry and local government should periodically organize public awareness for rural communities on the risk factors and how to prevent complications that could arise from high blood pressure....
