It is a spectrum of infections that arise commonly from the vagina and cervix and ascending to the upper genital tract causing Endometrius, Salpingliitis, Oophoritis, Tubo-ovarian abscess, and/or Pelvic Peritonitis. Complications from PID include infertility, ectopic pregnancy and chronic pelvic pain. Major risk factors for PID include low socioeconomic status, early Coitache, multiple sex partners, poor or no barrier contraceptive use, young age, history of induced abortion, low parity and past history of PID or Sexually Transmitted Infections. The study was a community-based descriptive cross-sectional study where two hundred and seven participants were recruited using random sampling technique in the study area. A semi-structured, close-ended self-administered questionnaire was used as a data collection instrument. The results were analyzed using Simple Percentage Social Science (SPSS) Version 21 and presented in frequency tables and charts. The results depict that of the 207 WCBA, 171 (100%) of respondents had agreed and strongly agreed that lack of using contraceptive devices like Condoms, Unprotected sexual intercourse, Multiple sex partners and Induced Abortion, and Surgical Termination of pregnancy are the incidents of PID among woman of childbearing age. The study clearly concluded a lack of awareness of the incidence of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease due to some factors that are not covered in the study. Meanwhile, they are all aware of the preventive measures to reduce the incidence of the disease.
