Abstract
This research study determined the factors that contribute the patronage of traditional birth attendants by pregnant women in Ado Ekiti, Ado L.GA Ekiti State, Nigeria. The objectives of this study are (1) To know how poverty contributes to higher patronage of TBAs by pregnant women in Ado Ekiti, Ado L.GA Ekiti State. (2) To know how attitude of health workers contribute to higher patronage of TBAs among pregnant woman in Ado Ekiti, Ado L.GA Ekiti State (3) To know how ignorance contribute to higher patronage of TBAs among pregnant women in Ado Ekiti, Ado L.GA Ekiti State (4) To know how distance to health facility contribute to higher patronage of TBAs among pregnant women in Ado Ekiti, Ado L.G.A Ekiti State (5) To know how religion contribute to higher patronage of TBAs among pregnant women in Ado Ekiti, Ado L.GA Ekiti State. A descriptive, cross-sectional survey using structured, validated, and tested questionnaires to interview (350) randomly selected pregnant women in Ado Ekiti, Ado LGA, Ekiti State. But (333) was retrieved due to mishandling by the respondents. The questionnaire consisted of questions on demographic details, and reasons that can contribute to higher patronage of traditional birth attendants descriptive research type was adopted for the study and a population of 204,310 with a sample of 350 was considered in the study coupled with questionnaires which served as the research instruments for the study. Descriptive analysis was used to answer general questions while inferential statistics was used to test the five hypotheses....
