Abstract
This research work was conducted to determine occupational hazards and safety practices among health workers in Ogbomosho North L.G.A Oyo State. It informed the health officers on the understanding of health workers regarding occupational hazards and safety. Among the objectives was to assess the knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices among health workers in Ogbomosho North L.G.A Oyo State and to assess the occupational health hazards faced by healthcare workers and reduce the measures in Ogbomosho North L.G.A Oyo State. Furthermore, to identify the factors militating against effective safety practices among health workers in Ogbomosho North L.G.A Oyo State. Many medical and allied literatures were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research use descriptive survey to sample students in the study area. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 150 questionnaires were distributed out of which 150 were also retrieved. The findings revealed they showed that the majority (53.3%) of the health workers are in tertiary institutions. This is consistent with a study done by Felix et. al., (2019) The study found that (77.3%) of the health workers are currently in tertiary institutions, while a smaller proportion of respondents, 9.3%, attended secondary school. In conclusion, recommendations were made that use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and health workers should be provided with adequate PPE, including masks, gloves, gowns, and face shields, to protect themselves from infectious diseases and other hazards they may encounter while on the job....
