It is fuelled by unplanned urbanization, uncontrolled population spurt, poor personal hygiene, inadequate resources, unawareness, enhanced international travel, widespread insecticide resistance, and poor-quality housing. A study on knowledge and practice about bedbug infestation in Kaltungo district was conducted from December 2020 to January 2023. This aimed at establishing bedbug infestation, assessing the knowledge on hazards associated with harbouring bedbugs and the control practices employed by the people of Kaltungo community. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out to collect both qualitative and quantitative data. Simple random sampling technique was used to obtain the study sample. 80 households were sampled and participated in the study. The study established a high infestation in the region. Out of 71 houses inspected, the majority fifty-six (78.9%) of them were infested with fifteen (21.1%) un-infested that showed no signs of infestation. Signs and symptoms included skin rash and body itching fifteen (31.3%), skin rash and hallucinations twenty-two (45.83%), skin rash, body swelling, hallucinations and body itching eleven (22.9%). Household heads applied one or more of the control practices. Majority twenty-two (25.5%) of household heads used chemicals alone. Data on infestations systematically collected shows the possibility of increased cases of infestations in the near future. Poor quality of housing, overcrowding and other related confounding factors serve as a potential breeding ground for bedbugs leading to widespread bedbug infestation. ...Preview Download Preview +Other Environmental Health Science project topics and materials you might be interested in»Rodents infestation, its effects on human health and the control measures - case study of Onyedega community Ibaji local government Kogi state»A study of solid waste generation management practices and its impact on the environment - case study of University of Maiduguri»The effects of improper solid waste disposal on the health of inhabitants of Pandogarirafi local overnment area of Niger state»The causes of the high prevalence of typhoid fever among the students of college of health sciences and technology, Idah lga, Kogi state»The importance of family planning on child spacing in Kagara community, Niger state»Assessment on the implication of poor construction drainage system on the environment in Kogi state college of health sciences and technology»Health and safety measures in an industrial setting»Assessment of diarrhea in children 0-5 years at the General Hospital Idah, Kogi state»Attitude of parents toward polio immunization»Process of package water production and its hygienic practice - case study of Betlad Global Serve Venture»A study on the negative effects of pesticide on the health of people of Umuegara Community, Ohaukwu, Ebonyi state»Assessment of noise pollution in Mr Ajifah rice mill industry in Ega - its effect on human health and control in Idah local government area, Kogi state»Investigation on effect of poor excreta disposal in Okposhi Eshi community Ngbo Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi state»Effect of improper disposal of industrial solid waste on man and his environment - case study of Parapo slaughter slab in Ilaje local goveernment area of Ondo state»Impact of pollution - its cause and effect on the environment
