Abstract
This study aims to appraise the factors militating against effective appointment in health delivery system. The purpose of the study was to find out if there are proper appointment method in the health delivery system at University Teaching Hospital Ilorin in the study area. The study adopted a descriptive survey design in which three research questions were posed. The population of the study was 128 while the sample size of 128 was selected out of the total population of the health information management professionals in the study area. Four point scale questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. The instrument was adequately validated with its reliability established using test-retest. Data collected were analyzed using mean scores. Based on the data collected and carefully analyzed, the researcher made the following findings that 17(13.2%) out of the respondent strongly agreed that there is different methods of appointment system that health record use 110(85.9%) agreed and 1(0.7%) disagreed, the frequency shows that 100(78.1%) strongly agreed that clinic attending by the patient in receiving treatment can be considered in choosing a suitable method of booking an appointment for patient`s and 28(21.8%) out of the respondent agreed and 128(100%) out of respondents strongly agreed that giving patient`s appointment contributes to the speedy recovery of patient treatment. Based on the findings, the researcher made there is a need for taken to seminars and workshops for further training on proper documentation of the appointment system in the record department and there should be high priority in giving patients appointments which can lead to a contribution to the speedy recovery of patient treatment and there is need to allocate adequate financial resources to cater for services and have proper control mechanisms of finances to avoid misdirection of funds....
