Abstract
This study aims to assess the youth's knowledge about substance abuse and the kidneys.  The study adopted a descriptive survey design in which five research questions were posed. The population of the study was 150 while a sample size of 100 respondents was selected out of the total population of the respondents in the study area. Six point scale questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. The instrument was adequately validated with its reliability established using test-retest. Data collected were analyzed using mean scores. Based on the data collected and carefully analyzed, the researcher made the following findings 60 (71.4%) of the youths strongly agreed, 22(26.2%) agreed, 1(1.2%) strongly disagreed and 1(1.2%) disagreed that brewed alcohol is a commonly abused substance among youths. The study also showed that 49(58.3%) of the youths strongly agreed, 32(38.1%) agreed, 2(2.4%) strongly disagreed and 1(1.2%) disagreed that cocaine is a commonly abused substance among youths, the study also showed that 42(50%) of the youths strongly agreed, 36(31%) agreed, 1(1.2%) strongly disagree and 5(6%) disagreed that heroine is a common abused substance among youths. It can be concluded that the youth in Sabo Lugbe village, Lugbe Abuja have a good knowledge and awareness of the impact of substance abuse on the kidneys. The commonly abused substances among youths are brewed alcohol, cocaine, heroin, cigarettes, aspirin, cannabis and tramadol. And it was recommended that enlightenment seminars should be organized to educate the public on the dangers that substance abuse poses to the health of individuals who abuse substances and of the dangers it poses to the nation at large. The war against drugs should be tougher to curtail drug abuse....
