Abstract
Contraceptives refer to artificial methods/techniques e.g., oral pills, condoms etc. for the prevention of individuals from both pregnancy and HIV/AIDS. The study was conducted to identify the attitude of women towards the utilization of modern contraceptives among women attending ANC are Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi. The researcher was motivated by the high increase several pregnant women and also the high rate of infant and maternal mortality. The objective of the study we are to describe the awareness of the importance of modern contraceptives among women, to ascertain the factors affecting the use of contraceptives in women of childbearing age and to measures to handle the mentioned factors. A descriptive survey design was used, and convenience sampling techniques were used to collect data from a sample size of 171 women with the aid of self-structured questionnaires. Tables were employed to present and analyze the data. The findings from the study showed that the majority of the women have knowledge of the importance of modern contraceptives, the factors affecting their use and also measures to handle the factors. A researcher, however, recommended that women should be provided with basic knowledge of contraceptives....
