Abstract
This research aimed to assess the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on workflow efficiency among the clinical workforce. A descriptive survey design was used, with a sample of 148 health workers selected from Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital in Ogidi, Anambra State using the Yaro Yamane formula. Data was collected via questionnaires and analyzed using percentages and chi-square test.  The findings revealed that 92% of respondents were aware of the positive impacts of ICT in promoting patient-centered care, improving quality of care (89%), and educating both professionals and patients (85%). However, 74% agreed that insufficient system access permissions impeded the full benefits of ICT in healthcare. Barriers identified included poor internet connection (68%) and system lags/freezes (62%). Testing the hypothesis“there is a significant influence of ICT on workflow and communication among clinical workforce” using chi-square showed a test statistic of 18.53 against a critical value of 3.84 at 0.05 level of significance. Since the test statistic exceeded the critical value, the null hypothesis was rejected. Thus, there is a significant positive influence of ICT adoption on clinical workflow and communication. Proposed solutions centered on the implementation of data security and privacy measures (78%) and investment in stable, fast internet connectivity (65%). Addressing these key issues can help improve ICT adoption for enhanced healthcare delivery. The hospital should prioritize high-speed, reliable connectivity and data protection to enable clinical staff to fully utilize ICT systems and leverage associated benefits....
