Its specific objectives include: to find out the availability and use of information technology in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital and also to find out the impact of IT in the management of patients' information n in NAUTH Nnewi, more so, to examine why IT is not utilized in the management of patient information in NAUTH, Nnewi. The design of this study was descriptive in nature. The population comprised of fifty-six (56) staff of the Health Records Department NAUTH, Nnewi. However, a sample size of forty-nine (49) respondents was determined using Yamaine Taro''''s formula. A well-structured questionnaire was used to solicit responses from the respondents. The obtained data were analyzed using simple percentage and the stated hypothesis was tested using Chi-square. The results of the study revealed that the impact of Information Technology in the management of patient health management includes: inadequate information technology faculties 53.06% inadequately trained information personnel 30.61%, obsolete facilities 57.14%, inadequate training of personnel on the use of information technology 32.65%. The study also revealed some reasons why information technology is used in the management of patient information in NAUTH which includes: the use of IT helps in the treatment of patients in the hospital 55.1%, of information technology facilities in the hospital, have not been utilized effectively 34.7%, adequate information technology will help in the storing, retrieval and management of the patient health information 100%, since the usage of IT, patient health 2information can store electronically 81.6%.
