Abstract
This study investigated the knowledge and attitudes of students at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi towards using the Internet. The internet is an important educational tool, facilitating communication and information access. However, NAUTH Nnewi students face challenges in utilizing the internet, including a lack of training, wireless connectivity, and technology. A descriptive survey design was employed, with a questionnaire distributed to 107 students. 47 completed questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests. The findings showed 95.7% of students were aware of the Internet and 93.6% used it for 1-2 hours, 2-3 days per week, primarily via mobile phones. Students accessed social media for learning and communication, mostly using Android devices. This demonstrates a positive attitude concerning internet usage. However, students faced barriers like lack of wireless access, technology maintenance, and digital skills training. It is recommended that NAUTH Nnewi provides free wireless internet, technology maintenance, and digital skills development for students and teachers. This will enable effective teaching and learning. While students have a positive view of the internet, removing access barriers is vital. Addressing challenges such as those outlined in this study will allow students to fully leverage the Internet as an educational asset....
