Abstract
The study was conducted in some selected markets of Maiadua Local Government Area of Katsina State to Analyze the Marketing of Guinea fowl. Data were collected using three sets of structured questionnaires one each for the producers, wholesalers and retailers. (20) Respondents were randomly selected for each of the wholesalers, retailers and producers making a total of 60 respondents as the sample size for the study. Data generated were analyzed using the descriptive statistics (frequency& Percentage) budgetary analysis (Measures of marketing margin, and profitability) and Gini Coefficient. Results showed that 45% of the guinea fowl marketers were between 1-10 years of age. It also showed that 93% of them were married with 39% of them having a family size of 16 and above. On the level of education, 45% had a Qur’anic education. A Gini coefficient of 0.5694 showed that marketing is competitive in a pure oligopolistic manner in the study area. Marketing profitability of 725 showed that the guinea fowl marketing is profitable in the study area. Marketing margin obtained for producers, wholesalers, and retailers gave the values of 575, 150 and 250 respectively. The result also showed that. 51.2% of them attributed their constraints to low Governmental assistance. It is recommended that the government should help to provide funds to the marketers, and cooperatives should also be formed by the Guinea fowl marketers to assist themselves....
