The study employed the survey research method and engaged both primary and secondary sources including a field survey with the use of questionnaires. A total of 100 journalists were selected from the Pointer Newspaper, Asaba, using the purposive sampling technique. Data gathered were analyzed by using tables and simple percentage. The study revealed that pointer journalist are aware of the contents and implications of the freedom of information (FOI) law on their journalistic duties to a high extent. The study also found that freedom of information law has its strength as it makes information readily available and accessible to the journalists and the public where hitherto they did not. However, it was also found that the strength of the FOI law is limited by some weaknesses which include its inability to expunge other obnoxious laws that militate against journalism practice.
