Abstract
The study examined the impact of tax incentives on the growth and development of small and medium scale enterprises with reference to Young JP Guest Inn Bali Metropolis. Three research questions were formulated to guide the study, questionnaires were distributed to the staff, and interviews were used to extract information where the questionnaire could not perfectly clarify. Firstly, a 5-point rating scale was used to analyze the data. A number of findings were made, and it was discovered that small-scale businesses that benefited from tax incentives experienced an increase in their productive assets, capital investment and working capital formation. Also, Young JP Guest Inn has benefited from government tax incentives designed to support SMEs. The availability of government incentives has made it easier for SMEs to access capital for expansion. The tax incentives provided by the government are adequate to meet the needs of small and medium-scale businesses. Among the findings is the effect of the incentives on the employment level. These incentives influence positively the investment development that leads to diversification thus increasing the employment level. The researcher further discovered that government tax incentives encourage SMEs to expand their operations, leading to job creation. In view of these findings, the research recommends that Young JP Guest Inn should educate more on the objectives of the tax incentives scheme so that they will reconcile their personal objectives with those of the government. And when this is done, the full benefit of the incentive is achieved. These tax incentives should effectively be extended to private entrepreneurs. The accurate records/accounts of their financial activities should be properly kept for future tax purposes. Also government should devise a means of eliminating the incidence of double-taxation, hence this tends to weigh down the ability of private entrepreneurs.  ...
