Abstract
This research work titled“the effects of electronic election (e-voting) on Nigeria's electoral system, focusing on the 2023 general election”, the researcher set out the main objectives of the study which includes to examine the extent to which the introduction of e-voting influenced voter participation and turnout, investigate whether the use of e-voting technology contributed to reducing instances of electoral malpractices such as rigging. To successfully carry out this research, three questions were formulated and structured questionnaires was designed based on the research questions. The survey design adopted a target population of 1,500 respondents. A sample of 315 respondents was selected using a cluster sampling technique.  The data collected was analysed and presented in a tabular form for easy understanding. Also, simple percentages were used for further analysis. The study also uses both descriptive and analytical methods in analysing the data from the sampled area and recommendations were made. Thus, the study found that the introduction of e-voting influenced voter turnout in the 2023 general election. E-voting made it easier for people who are geographically dispersed or have mobility issues to participate in the election, potentially increasing turnout among these groups. Comprehensive voters’ education at the community group level, with a comprehensive and down-to-earth demonstration of newly introduced technology, should be done for electronic voting to thrive in Nigeria.  In conclusion, the discourse on the utility of e-voting in ensuring credible elections in Nigeria is one that will continue for a long time. There are still some factors that need to be properly evaluated before its full-scale adoption. These issues still border on infrastructural capacity....
