Abstract
This study was carried out to examine the challenges of state local government joint accounts with particular reference to Bali Local Government Area, Taraba State, Nigeria”. The study adopted a survey research design where a primary method of data collection was used, in which a sample of 60 closed-ended questionnaires was prepared based on the research questions and administered to the respondents in the study area.  However, for the purpose of analysis, the study uses a 5-Point Likert Scale Rating in the form of tables to analyze respondent information. Based on the findings, the study concludes that the challenges identified in the study underscore the need for urgent reforms in the management of state-local government joint accounts in Bali. Without addressing these challenges, there is a risk of continued fiscal inefficiency, governance deficits, and suboptimal development outcomes at the local level. However, in line with the conclusion, this study recommends that the federal government review existing legislation and policies governing state-local government joint accounts to ensure alignment with fiscal federalism principles. The state government should enhance transparency and accountability in the allocation and utilization of joint account funds. Strengthen capacity-building initiatives for local government officials to improve financial management practices. Foster greater collaboration and consultation with local governments in the formulation of fiscal policies and revenue-sharing arrangements....
