Employing a descriptive survey research design, the study systematically explores how factors such as parental income, education level, and occupation contribute to students'' likelihood of dropping out. The population comprised 82,320 senior secondary school students, from which a representative sample of 384 students was selected using Krejcie and Morgan's (1970) formula. Simple random sampling was employed. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire, a reliability index of 0.82 was yielded using Cronbach’s Alpha Data was analysed using statistical analysis (percentages, mean, and standard deviation). Findings reveal that parental education level, income, and employment status significantly impact students'' school retention. The study highlights the socio-economic barriers affecting students’ educational continuity and suggests targeted interventions to address dropout rates. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders in developing strategies to improve student retention and educational outcomes.it was finally recommended that the government should introduce scholarship and financial aid programs to assist students from low-income families in covering tuition fees and educational materials.
