Abstract
This project work examined the effect of patient health records on the efficiency of the health care delivery system, a case study of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State. The study shows the relevance of health records management in any healthcare institution. Among the objectives developed for the study is to identify the need for accurate health records keeping as a management tool for effective patient care. Furthermore, to identify the level of knowledge of health information managers in UCH Ibadan, among others. Many related medical and allied records were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research used descriptive survey to sample 119 staff of the University College Hospital, Ibadan. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 119 questionnaires were distributed out of which 98 were retrieved. Data were presented in simple frequency distribution table and findings were discussed accordingly. In conclusion, recommendations were made for a well-standardized health records service, utilizing electronic health records, which will ultimately improve patient care outcomes. The government should employ more health professionals to enhance the quality of the job. Keyword health, records, patient, care. ...
