Abstract
This research project investigates the effects of single parenting on the academic performance of students. The study aims to understand how being raised in a single-parent household influences students’ educational outcomes, focusing on aspects such as academic achievement, classroom participation, discipline, and emotional well-being. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, data were collected through questionnaires and interviews with students, parents, and teachers in selected secondary schools. The findings reveal that students from single-parent families often face financial constraints, emotional challenges, and reduced parental involvement, which may negatively impact their academic performance. However, the study also highlights cases where strong parental support and resilience mitigate these challenges. The research concludes that while single parenting can present significant obstacles to academic success, targeted support systems, school interventions, and community involvement can help improve educational outcomes for students from such households. Recommendations are made to policymakers and educators to implement inclusive programs that address the specific needs of students from single-parent families. ...
