Malnutrition during pregnancy poses significant health risks to both the mother and the unborn child, contributing to increased maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. The research aimed to identify the underlying factors leading to poor nutritional status among pregnant women and assess its health consequences. Using a descriptive survey design, data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to a sample of 200 pregnant women attending antenatal clinics in selected health facilities within the area. The findings revealed that poverty, low educational levels, poor dietary habits, lack of nutritional awareness, and inadequate access to healthcare services were the major causes of malnutrition. Additionally, the study highlighted critical effects such as anemia, low birth weight, preterm delivery, and increased susceptibility to infections.
