This study investigates the role of women in combating domestic violence at the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, focusing on their awareness, challenges, and strategies for enhancing participation. A descriptive survey research design was adopted, and data were collected from 370 respondents using a structured questionnaire. The sample size was determined using the Taro Yamane formula, and simple random sampling was employed to ensure representativeness. Data analysis involved frequencies, percentages, and tabular presentations to describe patterns and relationships. The findings reveal that women play significant roles in combating domestic violence, particularly through advocacy and counseling. However, challenges such as fear of retaliation, lack of institutional support, and cultural barriers hinder their efforts. Respondents expressed dissatisfaction with existing institutional policies, emphasizing the need for stronger frameworks and dedicated support units. Training programs and increased awareness were identified as the most effective strategies to enhance women’s participation. Hypothesis testing confirmed the significance of women’s roles, the inadequacy of institutional support, and the existence of effective strategies to bolster women’s contributions. The study concludes that empowering women through education, policy reform, and institutional support is essential for addressing domestic violence effectively. It recommends strengthening institutional policies, launching awareness campaigns, and providing training programs to address gaps. The findings contribute to the discourse on gender-based violence by highlighting the transformative potential of women-led initiatives and offering actionable recommendations for stakeholders. Future studies should explore comparative analyses across institutions and incorporate male perspectives to provide a holistic understanding of domestic violence dynamics. ...Preview Download Preview +Other Criminology and Security Studies project topics and materials you might be interested in»Kidnapping and its implication in the society»The impact of reward on employee performance»The socio-economic impact of the use of vigilante groups on security management - case study of Ihiagwa, autonomous community, Imo state»Theft misappropriation of property and receiving stolen property»The effectiveness of close circuit television CCTV surveillance in crime prevention in Nasarawa town, Nasarawa lga»The effect of social vices among students in Nigerian Polytechnics - case study of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, Nasarawa state»The role of women in combating domestic violence in Nasarawa
