Abstract
This study examined the determinants of employee job satisfaction in Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. The research objectives were to examine the effect of work environment, job security, and compensation on employees’ job satisfaction in Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. A descriptive survey research design was employed for the study. The population for the study comprised 144 staff of the School of Business Studies in Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, and a sample size of 111 was determined using the Taro Yamane formula. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that work environment, job security, and compensation have significant positive effects on employee job satisfaction in Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Based on this, the researcher recommended that the management of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa should improve workplace safety, provide adequate tools and resources, and maintain conducive physical conditions to enhance the work environment. Furthermore, job security policies should be strengthened through transparent employment practices, clear career progression paths, and performance-based retention. Additionally, compensation packages should be reviewed regularly to ensure fairness, competitive salaries, and comprehensive welfare programs that motivate and retain staff.
