Abstract
This study examines the effect of information technology (IT) on service delivery in the Nigerian banking industry, focusing on Zenith Bank PLC. IT has transformed banking operations by enabling faster, more efficient, and customer-centric services through tools like ATMs, online banking, and mobile platforms. The research addresses challenges such as incomplete computerization, technology failures, and regulatory constraints that hinder optimal service delivery. Using a descriptive survey design, data were collected from 60 respondents, including bank staff and customers, via structured questionnaires. Analysis employed frequency distributions, percentages, and chi-square tests to evaluate hypotheses. Findings confirm that IT significantly enhances service delivery (80% respondent agreement), improving operational efficiency, customer satisfaction (85% positive feedback), and market competitiveness. Key IT roles include real-time transactions, reduced errors, and enhanced accessibility. However, challenges like system downtimes (60% concern) and skill gaps persist. The study concludes that IT is pivotal for banking efficiency but requires continuous improvement. Recommendations include sustained IT investment, enhanced system reliability, staff training, regulatory collaboration, and ongoing evaluation to align IT solutions with customer needs and industry demands....
