Abstract
Dandruff, a common scalp disorder, is primarily caused by fungal species such as Malassezia spp. This study investigates the phytochemical composition and antifungal activity of the ethanolic extract of Syzygium aromaticum (clove) seeds against selected fungal isolates associated with dandruff. Phytochemical screening was conducted to identify the presence of bioactive compounds, while antifungal activity was evaluated using standard microbiological techniques. The results revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and phenolic compounds, which are known for their antimicrobial properties. The ethanolic extract demonstrated significant antifungal activity against the tested dandruff-causing fungal isolates, suggesting its potential as a natural alternative for dandruff treatment. These findings highlight the therapeutic potential of Syzygium aromaticum seed extract in managing fungal scalp infections and encourage further research into its clinical application...
