Abstract
In many developing countries, unreliable electricity supply remains a critical challenge affecting both domestic and industrial activities. This project presents the design and construction of an automatic changeover switch capable of selecting between four power sources: Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Solar, Big Generator, and Small Generator. The aim is to ensure a seamless and automated transition from one power source to another without human intervention, thereby preventing downtime and protecting electrical appliances from voltage fluctuations and interruptions. The system is built using key components such as contactors (125A and 65A), 14-pin relays, seconds timers, voltage monitors, single-pole breakers, and a control logic unit housed within a panel box. The design prioritizes the Electricity Distribution Company as the main source, followed by Solar, then the Big Generator, and finally the Small Generator, based on availability and stability. A logic control unit monitors the input voltage levels and instructs the relays and contactors to switch accordingly, while timers are used to introduce a delay and prevent false switching. The result is a robust and intelligent power management system that enhances reliability, reduces manual operations, and provides safety for both users and electrical equipment. The system was successfully tested under varying input conditions and proved effective in real-time power source transitions....
