Abstract
The science studying the water bodies located on the surface of the continents is called limnology (from the Greek µ (limne)  lake and  (logos)  study. It is considered a part of ecology. It covers the biological, chemical, physical, geological, and other attributes of all inland waters, both running as in rivers (lotic ecosystems) and standing as in lakes (lentic ecosystems). Studies on water quality parameters provide baseline information for subsequent assessment of the environmental impact of man-made perturbations. The objective of this study is to determine the physicochemical properties of water from Agulu Lake. There is a need to test sources of water for hints of pollution or contamination that would otherwise threaten the lives of living organisms that depend on them. Monthly sampling for twelve physico-chemical parameters was conducted in each of the six arms of the lake, which constitute the six stations of this study, from January to December 2003. Measurement of parameters was based on methods described in APHA (1989). The conductivity data for Agulu Lake showed strong seasonal variation. ...
