Abstract
This study looks into the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and political participation in Nigeria’s 2023 General Election. With the introduction of electronic voting (E-voting) and usage of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, this work will be taking a look at the dynamics of the innovation of BVAS as it affects 2023 elections in Nigeria and how INEC can use BVAS to strengthen the electoral process and minimise post election crisis. Decision-making theory and Structural Functionalism guided this research. It employed a Quantitative& Qualitative Survey. To obtain a qualitative result for this work, the simple random sampling technique is adopted for this study with a sample size of fifty (50) respondents, of which 45 were retrieved and only 37 validated responses. Secondary data was largely utilized in the study. The study found that caveats sighted in Nigeria are often jettisoned and nothing or little is done to avert the looming danger. It further discovers that the 2023 poll is the worst in terms of voter turnout and the most keenly contested, which broke the usual two-horse race.  However, it revealed that public awareness of the use of BVAS positively influenced voters’ turnout in subsequent General Elections, if and only if electoral misconduct can be downcast. Thus, the study recommended that INEC ensure full implementation and deployment of BVAS technology in the coming (subsequent) elections. Also, INEC with NBA collaboration could ensure that all electoral misconduct is brought to justice, as this would discourage electoral misconduct in the country and thereby enhance voter turnout....
