These challenges often result in premature or delayed harvests, causing reduced yield, food losses, and financial inefficiencies. This project presents the design and implementation of a web-based agricultural harvest notification system that assists farmers in determining the appropriate harvest time for staple crops such as maize, cassava, and rice. The system enables farmers to input crop details—including crop type, description, and planting date—after which it automatically computes the expected harvest period using predefined maturity durations and generates real-time in-app notifications when crops are due for harvest. The system was developed using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript within a WAMP server environment. It adopts a modular design approach, consisting of modules for adding crops, viewing crop lists, and receiving harvest alerts. Functional testing confirmed that the system effectively provided accurate and timely notifications, improving farmers’ decision-making and productivity. This research demonstrates that digital agricultural tools, when localized and simplified, can bridge the technological gap among rural farmers and promote sustainable food production. The study concludes that the adoption of smart, web-based solutions such as the harvest notification system can enhance agricultural efficiency, reduce post-harvest losses, and contribute to food security.
