Teenage pregnancy remains a pressing public health concern in Nigeria, with serious implications for the health, education, and socio-economic status of adolescents. A descriptive cross-sectional design was employed, involving 120 respondents selected through a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that most respondents were between the ages of 12 and 15, with a slight majority enrolled in junior secondary school. A significant proportion attributed teenage pregnancy to low parental economic status (65.0%), broken homes (61.7%), and lack of parental care (55.8%). Other key factors identified included peer pressure (62.5%), dating violence (61.7%), and the influence of social media (67.5%). Furthermore, respondents indicated that teenage pregnancy results in negative consequences such as psychological stress, stigmatization (61.7%), induced abortion (60.0%), and low birth weight in children. Risk behaviors like alcohol intake (50.0%), smoking (53.3%), and sexual exploitation (43.3%) were also reported as contributing factors. In conclusion, teenage pregnancy in Ekiti LGA is influenced by a combination of socio-economic, environmental, and behavioral factors. It is recommended that stakeholders—including parents, educators, and health practitioners—implement comprehensive sex education, increase parental involvement, and provide economic support systems to vulnerable families. Public awareness campaigns should also address the role of social media and peer influence in adolescent reproductive health ...Preview Download Preview +Other Community Health project topics and materials you might be interested in»Knowledge and awareness of the effects of narcotic drug use among students of Federal Polytechnic Idah»Effect of immunization in children between the ages of 0-5 in family health centre Idah Local Government Area Kogi State»The effect of abortion on female students in College of Health Sciences and Technology Idah, Kogi»Factors influencing the attitude of women towards family planning - case study of Oke Eiri, Atan Local Government Area»Problem of pregnancy and abortion on girl child education in Nigeria»Effect of malnutrition among children under five years of age in Patigi community of Patigi local government area of Kwara state»Attitude of couple toward modern family planning practice in Birnin Gwari, Birnin Gwari local government, Kaduna state»Importance of exclusive breast feeding on the health of an infant - case study of Idah local government area of Kogi state»Knowledge of protein energy malnutrition and its prevention among mothers with children below five years of age in Ubiegbe Community Idah, Lga, Kogi state»The impact of community health works in elderly condition in Ungogo local government»Causes, effects and control of communicable diseases in secondary schools»A study on the causes, effects, prevention and control of threatened abortion among childbearing mothers ages (18-45) years in Gilead Children Hospital»Causes and effects of drug abuse among adolescent in Amede community»Assessment of prevalence malaria among the patients attending Tofa comprehensive hospital»Assessing the mother knowledge on the benefit of breast feeding among children 0 - 24 months - a case study of Matoya village Maigatari local government, Jigawa state
