This research work was carried out to assess the knowledge of childbearing age women on the causes and effects of cervical cancer in Oke-Ose community, Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire. 150 copies of questionnaires were distributed and 140 were retrieved, 4 were discarded due to wrong filling, and 6 were not retrieved. Data were presented and analyzed using a simple table showing frequencies and percentages. The result obtained shows that the women of childbearing age in Oke-Ose community have little knowledge about cervical cancer, as shown in Table 7, 90 respondents representing 64% of the total respondents said“NO” they have not heard about cervical cancer. Women of childbearing age are mostly affected due to some challenges and problems, which make early diagnosis of this condition difficult, if not impossible, due to inadequate information about cervical cancer. The researcher thereby recommended that regular medical check-up has to be adopted by every female who has attained the age of puberty. Government and private sectors should incorporate cancer enlightenment programs into Health Centres, hospitals, radios, television and newspapers. Seminars and workshops should be organized by NGOs, the State and the Federal Ministry of Health workers to enable them to recognize and refer cases of cervical cancer in their early stages.
