Abstract
The study was carried out on knowledge and perceived causes of infertility among women of childbearing age in Ede, Ede North Local Government, Osun State. The objective is to determine perceived causes of infertility among women of childbearing age at Ede, Ede North Local Government, Osun State. The second objective is to identify causes of infertility among women of childbearing age. This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in the community in Ede North Local Government. Two hundred respondents were selected from the study area using multi - stages. Sampling technique: pretest, semi structures interviewer administered questionnaire was used for data collection. Data entry was carried out using SPSS version 25. Majority 55% of the respondent had suffered infertility. The majority of the respondents, in which 45% of the respondents has suffered from infertility before. Those who have married are 60% represent the range 6-10 respondents. This presents and justifies the dysfunctions, which are made explicit and these are used to formulate a series of guidelines that can be utilized by people to plan the eradication of infertility. The conclusion outlines some aspect which needs further research if the potential for the approach is to be more fully developed. I therefore recommend that the government should take note of educated health workers on the importance of maternal and child health, including family planning as one of the major components of primary health care services, it is paramount important that the government should make a law to ensure that criminal or illegal abortions are prohibited.
