Abstract
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common bacterial infections worldwide, affecting people of all ages and sexes. They represent a significant burden on global healthcare systems, accounting for millions of hospital visits and prescriptions annually. A. baumannii is an aerobic, oxidase-negative, non-motile, Gram-negative coccobacillus, and it is increasingly recognized for its capacity to cause infections in hospitalized patients. It can colonize the skin, respiratory tract, and urinary tract and has demonstrated an alarming ability to survive on dry surfaces for prolonged periods, facilitating its transmission in healthcare settings (Harding, Hennon,& Feldman, 2018). Its ability to resist harsh environmental conditions and develop resistance to multiple antibiotics makes it a formidable nosocomial pathogen. In developing countries, the diagnosis of bacterial infections still heavily relies on phenotypic methods such as colony morphology, Gram staining, and biochemical tests, due to the limited availability of molecular tools. Though these methods are less sensitive than genotypic techniques, they remain critical in clinical microbiology laboratories for pathogen identification....
