The study was aimed at determining the nutritional status of children under five and the associated factors among mothers attending the Children Specialist Hospital Center, Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State. The main objectives of the study are to: determine the feeding practices of mothers of children under five, evaluate the nutritional status of children under five and identify the factors affecting poor nutrition of children under five among mothers. Finite population correction (FPC) formula was used to get the sample size while the simple random sampling technique was used to select the respondents. A self-structured questionnaire was used to obtain data from the respondents who participated in the study. Data was analyzed using statistical tools (SPSS 25). It was found out in the study that 76(95%) of the respondents indicated that their child were born without having low birth weight, while 95% of breastfed their children, and majority of the respondent agreed that their children is having normal weight and majority of the respondents strongly agreed that limited access to healthy food options is a factor affecting nutrition, 73% strongly agreed on insufficient breastfeeding. Based on the findings of this study, it was found that the majority of mothers have good feeding practices for children under five, and the nutritional status of the under five was seen to be normal. The majority also identified various factors affecting nutrition, including limited access to healthy food options.
