Investigating factors influencing response, rescue and transportation of accident victim from accident scenes to the hospital in Kwara metropolis

Abstract
This study investigated the factors influencing response, rescue and transportation of accident victims from accident scenes to the hospital in Kwara Metropolis. It made use of descriptive survey research design method with a sample of fifty (50) respondents which was selected using non-probability sampling techniques of convenience techniques using Taro Yamane’s statistical formula (N/(1+Ne)2) within Kwara Metropolis. Data were collected through self-structured questionnaires. Simple Percentage was used to analyze the formulated research question while a mean score and standard deviation was used to validate the findings. The research discovered that the results indicate a strong awareness of the definition of first aid, with 78% of respondents strongly agreeing that it is the immediate and critical care provided to individuals experiencing minor or severe illness or injury (mean ± SD  3.78 ± 3.27). The data also indicates that 44% of respondents strongly agree that the rapid growth of the city presents a challenge (mean ± SD  3.08 ± 2.70).The following recommendations were made, it was suggested that there should be the implementation of regular and advanced training sessions for emergency medical technicians (EMTs) focusing on life support, trauma care, and effective communication with victims and their families. There should also be the development of a centralized dispatch system to streamline communication and coordination among emergency services. While issues of infrastructural challenges that impede emergency response, such as poor road conditions and traffic congestion, should be addressed promptly, and that Government and other stakeholders should facilitate the launching of a public awareness campaign aimed at educating drivers on the importance of safe driving practices. These initiatives should focus on reducing reckless driving behaviors that pose significant risks to both emergency personnel and the public....
