Thus this study was carried out to examine the factors influencing patient safety among Nurses working in the emergency unit of UITH, Ilorin. Relevant literature from various authors on patient safety and research on the knowledge of nurses about patient safety, attitudes of nurses towards patient safety and recommendations on patient safety were reviewed. A descriptive survey design was used; 72 questionnaires were administered and returned to the researcher. Data collected was analyzed with the uses of frequencies, percentages and are presented using frequency tables and charts. Relationship between variables was determined using Analysis of variance (ANOVA) with the level of significance set at 0.05 to determine the level of statistical significance. The findings from the research showed that the factors influencing patient safety among nurses in emergency unit of UITH are availability of operational standard fornursing care documentation (100%) said effective communication is a recommendation, while (100% )said medication safety, then (100%) said (100%), majority of (100%) said proper infection control, while (100% )said fall prevention in the unit, (100%) said continuous quality improvement, majority of (100%) said health information technology, (96.7% )said patient and family engagement, (3.3%) said no.
