Abstract
This study focuses on the Perceived Effects of Phone Usage on Clinical Posting Activities Among Nursing Students in the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. The widespread use of mobile phones among nursing students has raised questions about their impact on clinical posting activities. Therefore, the specific objectives of the study are to assess the perceived effects of phone usage on clinical posting activities, identify influencing factors and evaluate the level of phone utilization among nursing students. Simple random sampling was used to select 144 respondents from the Department of Basic Nursing, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH). A self-structured questionnaire gathered data, analyzed using SPSS 29. Findings from the analysis revealed that 75% of respondents agreed that phone usage has a greater advantage for clinical posting experience, while the remaining 25%. This study highlights the benefits of phone usage for nursing students in clinical settings, including improved learning experiences and emotional support. The findings inform students, educators, management and healthcare professionals on utilizing mobile technology to enhance nursing education. In conclusion, it is noted that a moderate level of phone usage is associated with improved access to information and improved students' academic performance. Recommendations were made to set  boundaries by establishing specific times for phone use  to minimize distractions, while the Nursing Educator incorporates phone-based learning strategies into curriculum design and the management should provide infrastructure support for mobile learning (e.g., Wi-Fi, charging stations)...
