This study investigated the challenges associated with the acceptance of family planning among men in Ado Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria. The study aimed to assess men’s level of awareness, identify influencing factors, and explore the challenges limiting acceptance and utilization of family planning services. A descriptive survey design was employed, using a structured questionnaire to collect data from 100 male respondents selected through purposive sampling. The data collected were analyzed using frequency tables, charts, and chi-square tests to evaluate relationships between variables. Findings revealed that only 50% of the respondents were aware of family planning, and just 43% believed it could improve the quality of life. Awareness of specific methods, such as male surgical options and natural methods, was significantly low. Religious and cultural beliefs emerged as major influencing factors, while educational level and health education were positively associated with acceptance. The most significant challenges identified included a lack of adequate knowledge, fear of side effects, distrust in male contraceptive methods, and stigma. Hypothesis testing showed no significant relationship between awareness and acceptance (p 0.54), but a significant relationship existed between influencing factors and challenges (p 0.01). The study concluded that awareness alone is insufficient to foster acceptance among men. Instead, addressing educational gaps, socio-cultural beliefs, and service accessibility is essential. It is recommended that nurses intensify community-based education, men take active roles in reproductive decisions, societal norms be reformed to embrace modern contraceptive practices, and the government implement inclusive policies and services that target male participation in family planning....Preview Download Preview +Other Nursing Science project topics and materials you might be interested in»Factors contributing to ineffective utilization of immunization programme among mothers in Ekwerazu town Ahiazu Mbaise local government area Imo state»Knowledge and practice of quality assurance among nurses working in accident and emergency unit of University of Ilorin teaching hospital, Kwara state»Awareness of female genital mutilation and its implication to reproductive health among mothers in Amaifeke in Orlu local government, Imo state»Accessibility and use of information communication technology (ICT) in the enhancement of nursing education among nursing students in Madonna University Teaching Hospital (MUTH)»Factors that influence the patronage of traditional birth attendants in Umuowa community Orlu Lga, Imo State»Attitude of nurses towards research among accident and emergency nurses of University of Ilorin teaching hospital»Awareness and practice of pressure sores prevention in the care of the elderly among nurses in Madonna University Teaching Hospital»Factors influencing the attitudes of women toward family planning in Rivers state»Incidence of protein energy malnutrition among children under five years in General Hospital, Yelwa Yauri, Kebbi state»Assessment of nutritional pattern and practice among pregnant women in holy rosary hospital»Burnout syndrome and use of therapeutic approaches among nursing students in Madonna University, Rivers state»Assessment of exclusive breastfeeding in the development of under-five children in Madonna University Teaching Hospital»Assessment of practices used in the prevention of Lassa fever infection among health workers in Madonna University Teaching Hospital»Factors influencing high rate of abortion among women of childbearing age in Saki, Saki West Local Government Area, Oyo State»Awareness of determinants of sexual abuse and identification of supportive care among female nursing student of Madonna University
