Abstract
This study investigates the level of compliance with health and safety practices in the hospitality industry, focusing specifically on food outlets in Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria. The research employs a quantitative approach, utilizing survey methodology to collect data on compliance levels, factors influencing compliance, and awareness of health and safety regulations among stakeholders. A sample size of 200 respondents, including both food outlet staff and customers, was interviewed using purposive sampling. The findings reveal insights into current health and safety practices, the impact of regulations on compliance behavior, and the role of internal and external factors in shaping adherence to standards. Analysis of the data sheds light on the challenges faced by food outlets in maintaining high standards of hygiene, sanitation, and food safety, as well as the economic implications of non-compliance. Recommendations are proposed to enhance compliance levels and mitigate risks associated with foodborne illnesses and occupational hazards. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of health and safety practices in the hospitality industry and provides valuable insights for policymakers, food outlet owners, and other stakeholders striving to improve public health outcomes in Asaba and beyond....
