Abstract
This study explores the impact of social media marketing (SMM) on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria, focusing on factors influencing adoption, challenges faced, and benefits derived. Through a comprehensive review of literature, key themes emerge regarding the role of SMM in enhancing business performance, brand awareness, and customer engagement among SMEs. The literature underscores the significance of digital marketing channels, particularly social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, in facilitating market reach and customer interaction. Challenges such as resource constraints and skill deficiencies are identified as barriers to effective SMM implementation, while cultural and contextual factors also influence adoption rates. The findings highlight the need for tailored strategies that leverage SMM to enhance competitive advantage and sustainable growth in the Nigerian SME sector.
