Abstract
The rapid growth of cryptocurrency adoption has presented both opportunities and challenges for emerging economies, necessitating effective public policy responses to ensure financial stability and economic growth. This study examines the dynamics of cryptocurrency adoption in emerging markets, focusing on its implications for monetary policy, financial inclusion, regulatory frameworks, and economic development. Using a qualitative and comparative research approach, the study analyzes policy responses across selected emerging economies, highlighting variations in regulatory strategies such as outright bans, cautious regulation, and innovation-driven frameworks. Findings reveal that while cryptocurrencies enhance financial inclusion, reduce transaction costs, and promote cross-border trade, they also pose significant risks, including capital flight, regulatory arbitrage, financial fraud, and threats to monetary sovereignty. The study further identifies that weak institutional capacity and a lack of technological infrastructure in many emerging economies hinder effective regulation and oversight. The research concludes that a balanced and adaptive policy approach is essential, one that fosters innovation while mitigating associated risks. It recommends the development of clear regulatory guidelines, regional and international cooperation, investment in digital financial literacy, and the integration of blockchain technology into existing financial systems. Ultimately, a proactive and flexible policy framework will enable emerging economies to harness the benefits of cryptocurrency while safeguarding economic stability....
