This study examines the impact of digital currency on government financial systems, with particular focus on its implications for monetary policy, revenue collection, financial transparency, and public sector efficiency. The research adopts a qualitative approach, relying on secondary data obtained from academic literature, policy documents, central bank reports, and international financial institutions. The study explores the evolution of digital currencies, including Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and privately issued cryptocurrencies, and their increasing relevance in modern financial systems. Findings reveal that digital currency can enhance government financial systems by improving transaction speed, reducing cash-handling costs, increasing financial inclusion, and strengthening transparency in public finance management. It also offers governments better tools for tracking economic activities and reducing tax evasion and financial leakages. However, the study also identifies several challenges associated with digital currency adoption, including cybersecurity risks, regulatory uncertainty, volatility (in the case of cryptocurrencies), technological infrastructure gaps, and public trust issues. The study concludes that while digital currency presents substantial opportunities for improving government financial systems, its successful integration requires strong regulatory frameworks, robust digital infrastructure, and effective policy coordination. Governments are therefore encouraged to adopt a cautious but innovative approach to leveraging digital currency for sustainable financial system development....Preview Download Preview +Other Public Administration project topics and materials you might be interested in»Impact of industrial conflict on the performance of workers in the government parastatal (a case study of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)»Human resources as a catalyst for economic growth and development in Nigeria (a case study of Abuja municipal area council) »The influence of effective personnel management practice in organization performance»Local government financial autonomy and grass root development in Nigeria (a case study of Afikpo north local government area)»Effects of delayed payment of lecturers salaries and wages on students performance»Manpower training and development as a tool for effective performance in public sector in Nigeria»The impact of poor revenue generation on the development of Local Government Areas»Enhancing political stability in Nigeria through good governance ( a case study of Abia state)»Fuel subsidy removal and the Nigerian economy (a case study of Abakiliki local government area, Ebonyi state) »Niger-Delta crisis and its impact on socio-economic development in Nigeria»Accountability and corruption in local government in Nigeria (Case study of Bonny local government area of Rivers state)»Political instability a major hindrance to effective policy implementation and good governance (a case study of Nigeria 1983 -1999)»Bureaucracy and efficiency (a case study of Enugu state civil service)»Impact of collective bargaining techniques on industrial relations practice (a case study of two selected firms from NUPENG and NUBIFE)»The level of implementation of the pension act in federal polytechnic: (a study of Akanu Ibiam federal polytechnic, Unwana Afikpo Ebonyi state)
