It focuses on determining students’ access to TikTok, frequency and duration of use, as well as the benefits derived from the platform. The study was motivated by the increasing influence of social media on students’ academic, social, and communication behavior. The total population of the study comprised undergraduate students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, from which a representative sample was selected. Data were collected through the administration of structured questionnaires designed to capture students’ accessibility, level of engagement, purpose of use, and perceived effects of TikTok. The study adopted the Uses and Gratification Theory and Diffusion of Innovation Theory as its theoretical framework, emphasizing users’ motivations and the adoption process of new media technologies. Analysis of the data revealed that most respondents have regular access to TikTok through mobile devices, using it mainly for entertainment, self-expression, information exchange, and academic-related communication. Although TikTok enhances creativity and social networking, excessive use was found to interfere with academic focus and productivity.
