Abstract
This project presents the design and implementation of a Web-Based Learning Management System (LMS) for The Polytechnic, Ibadan, motivated by the increasing demand for technology-driven solutions in higher education. Traditional learning processes within the institution have been hindered by challenges such as limited accessibility to learning materials, delayed feedback on assessments, inefficient record management, and overdependence on face-to-face interactions. To address these gaps, the LMS was developed using HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL. The system incorporates essential functionalities, including course registration, course material uploads, assignment submission, online quizzes, grading, and performance tracking. Emphasis was placed on creating a user-friendly and mobile-compatible interface to ensure accessibility for both students and lecturers. The developed LMS enhances teaching and learning by providing a central repository of academic resources, streamlining assessment processes, and facilitating timely communication between students and lecturers. The contribution of this work lies in demonstrating how a lightweight, web-based solution can be tailored to the unique needs of Nigerian polytechnics, thereby bridging infrastructural and pedagogical gaps. Beyond solving immediate institutional challenges, this research contributes to knowledge by reinforcing the role of customized LMS platforms in improving academic efficiency, student engagement, and digital adoption in higher education environments. Furthermore, it serves as a practical reference for institutions seeking scalable and cost-effective alternatives to expensive commercial LMS solutions, while laying the foundation for future integration of advanced features such as analytics, adaptive learning, and cloud-based deployment....
