The disease has become a major public health concern worldwide because of its increasing prevalence and associated complications. This study assessed the prevalence of diabetes mellitus among patients attending General Hospital Gboko, Benue State, Nigeria. A descriptive cross-sectional study design was adopted. The study population consisted of adult patients attending the hospital during the study period. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and blood glucose testing. The data were Analyzed using descriptive statistics and frequency distribution tables, the study determined the prevalence of diabetes mellitus and assessed its distribution according to age and gender, as well as the associated risk factors among the study participants. The findings are expected to provide useful information for healthcare providers and policymakers in planning effective diabetes prevention, screening, and management programmes within the study area. It is recommended that routine blood glucose screening, health education, lifestyle modification, and early diagnosis be strengthened to reduce the burden of diabetes mellitus among the population.
