A descriptive cross-sectional study design was adopted. A total of 150 patients were recruited for the study, and blood glucose levels were determined using a glucometer. Data obtained were presented in tables and analysed using frequencies and percentages. The results showed that out of the 150 participants examined, 32 (21.3%) had hyperglycaemia, while 118 (78.7%) had normal blood glucose levels, giving an overall prevalence of hyperglycaemia of 21.3%. Hyperglycaemia was observed in both male and female participants, with 15 cases recorded in males and 17 in females. The occurrence of hyperglycaemia also increased with age. Participants aged 18–30 years recorded 3 (7.9%) cases, those aged 31–40 years recorded 7 (16.7%), those aged 41–50 years recorded 8 (22.8%), and those aged 51–60 years recorded 8 (36.3%), while participants above 60 years recorded 6 (46.1%) cases. The highest proportion of hyperglycaemia was therefore observed among participants above 60 years.
