The objectives of the study are to examine the needs and objectives of the library committee in the academic library and to evaluate the responsibilities of the library committee in the academic library. The survey research method was employed questionnaire are the main instrument for data collection. Frequency tables, percentages, and analysis were used. The population of the study is 42 staff, and all were sampled. Findings revealed that library committees in Nigerian academic institutions play a crucial role in the governance and strategic management of libraries. These committees typically comprise faculty members, librarians, and administrative staff, and their responsibilities include overseeing the library’s operations, guiding its development, and ensuring it meets the needs of the academic community. The study recommends that the library committee develop strategic plans and goals for library development aligned with the institution’s academic objectives and student needs.
