The major objectives of this project are to examine the causes of the persistent rise in food prices in Nigeria, to evaluate the implications of the persistent rise in food prices on purchasing power in Kogi State, and to determine the role of the federal government in the persistent rise in food prices. The methodology adopted in gathering data was the descriptive method, both primary and secondary methods. The major instrument used to gather data from primary sources is the questionnaire. From a population of 188, 900 a sample size of 399 respondents was selected using a simple random technique. Findings revealed, among others, that the persistent rise in food prices has affected almost everything in Nigeria; it has affected the economy, the living standards of households, the purchasing power of households, and it has reduced money in circulation. Despite the government’s efforts and necessary steps to reduce price hike of foods and minimize the effects of higher prices on the people, Nigerians keep up suffering the effects of the persistent rise in food prices. In view of the findings, it was recommended that the federal government should try to reduce the price of fuel so as to reduce the high rate of transportation. Government should always try to maintain high and stable growth rates that will improve the welfare of its populace. Government is also advised to expand its capital budget expenditures on public investment projects, and also create a favourable business environment for private investment in Nigeria. It is only in this way that significant economic growth will be achieved and sustained in the economy....Preview Download Preview +Other Public Administration project topics and materials you might be interested in»Impact of industrial conflict on the performance of workers in the government parastatal (a case study of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)»Human resources as a catalyst for economic growth and development in Nigeria (a case study of Abuja municipal area council) »The influence of effective personnel management practice in organization performance»Local government financial autonomy and grass root development in Nigeria (a case study of Afikpo north local government area)»Effects of delayed payment of lecturers salaries and wages on students performance»Manpower training and development as a tool for effective performance in public sector in Nigeria»The impact of poor revenue generation on the development of Local Government Areas»Fuel subsidy removal and the Nigerian economy (a case study of Abakiliki local government area, Ebonyi state) »Enhancing political stability in Nigeria through good governance ( a case study of Abia state)»Niger-Delta crisis and its impact on socio-economic development in Nigeria»Accountability and corruption in local government in Nigeria (Case study of Bonny local government area of Rivers state)»Political instability a major hindrance to effective policy implementation and good governance (a case study of Nigeria 1983 -1999)»Bureaucracy and efficiency (a case study of Enugu state civil service)»The assessment of the roles of local government towards rural development - a case study of Katcha local government area of Niger state»Impact of collective bargaining techniques on industrial relations practice (a case study of two selected firms from NUPENG and NUBIFE)
